ZANELE MUHOLI AND JANE GILES ARE AWARDED AT THE KRASZNA-KRAUSZ BOOK AWARDS 2019
The Kraszna-Krausz Foundation has announced the winners of the 2019 Best Photography and Best Moving Image Book Awards, which celebrate outstanding and innovative publications within these fields published in the previous year and available in the UK.
Zanele Muholi is the winner of the Kraszna-Krausz Best Photography Book Award and Jane Giles is awarded the Best Moving Image Book Award 2019. The announcement was made during an awards ceremony on the 16 May at the Royal Society of Arts and all longlisted titles are currently on display at Photo London. Please visit the 2019 Awards page for more information.
The Kraszna-Krausz Book Awards recognise individuals or groups of individuals who, in the opinion of the Judges, have made an outstanding original or lasting contribution to the literature of or concerning the art and practice of photography or the moving image. Two winning titles are selected; one in the field of photography and one in the field of the moving image (including film, television and digital media).
From the total submissions, a long list of ten books were selected in both categories by the judges. This was then reduced to shortlists of three, from which two final winning publications were chosen. Each winning author receives a £5,000 cash prize.
The ten longlisted titles in each category, along with a selection of books from our Fellowship in Photography honouree, Susan Meiselas, are currently displayed at the Kraszna-Krausz stand at Photo London 2019 (16-19 May).
